Why we value Social impact
While greenhouse gas emissions or food-waste, for example, can be easily measured and quantified, the ‘Social’ element of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) is often more complex to quantify. Your business does not operate in isolation. The decisions and actions you and every business take directly or indirectly affect not only your immediate workforce, but also a much wider sphere of stakeholders, local communities, and society at large.
How we measure it
We measure social impact by looking at how your business interacts and impacts its stakeholders, from suppliers and employees, to customers and local communities. This means looking at issues such as how you address corruption and bribery, your maternity, paternity and adoption policies, or your levels of community engagement. We believe that a company serves its stakeholders by providing a value proposition that best meets their needs, and that makes the meaning and implications of its products and services fully transparent, including reporting on any negative externalities that may occur as a result of its operations.
